These are some of the "reds" I've used in the past :
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick-Love That Red
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick-Certainly Red
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick-Fire & Ice
Revlon Matte Lipstick-Really Red
Loreal Colour Riche Lipstick-Decked In Red
Kanebo The Lipstick- New Ginza Red
Christian Dior Rouge Diorific-Roulette Red
Christian Dior Rouge Dior-Celebrity Red
Besame Enchanting Lipstick-Besame Red
Besame Enchanting Lipstick-Red Hot Red
NARS in Cruella or Dragon Girl...and they stick! The only thing i would be concerned about is that your lips can get a little dry because the intensity of the pigment...so prep your lips with a moisturizing balm or primer.
Depends on your skin tone. If the veins in your wrist look blue then you you have a cool skin tone. The reds that best suit cool skin tones are 'blue' reds eg. MAC Russian Red. Cools should stay away from orange undertones and look for blue or pink undertones instead.
If your veins look green then you are warm - warms can get away with bright oranges and reds that have orange/terracotta/brown undertones.
Google it - there is soooooo much info about matching skin tone to lippy colour and what the wrong colours will do. I found it very helpful, and suprisingly accurate.
I would recommend Mary Kay's Red Salsa lip color. If you really want to enhance it, first apply Mary Kay's red lip liner over your entire lip and then apply the Red Salsa lip color. You can check out these colors at marykay.com
Good luck finding just what you are looking for!!!
My experience with Mary Kay
I love 'Ruby Woo' by MAC! It's like that perfect retro-glam red.Real Estate Marketing

Yay! What a fun thread!
I have collected many many reds over the years and just this week found my Holy Grail of Red Lipsticks: CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in #75, "Dragon." It is ah-MAZ-ing!!
Dragon has been characterized as a "true red" but I think there are blueish tones there. However, it seems to be quite flattering on lots of skin tones. My skin is quite pale (NW 15 in MAC foundation) and Dragon looks great on me but also looks beautiful on my olive skinned buddy.
This formula goes on like a gloss and then dries like a lipstick. It is not sticky and has great staying power. Obviously, like any red, it will require a bit of upkeep throughout the night, but very little compared to other reds. Even when it fades after I eat, it fades in a pretty way, if that makes sense. Plus, it actually feels good going on, and doesn't dry my lips. My lips tend to be bit a dry, and my major complaint with otherwise lovely lipsticks (e.g. MAC Russian Red and Illamasqua Encounter) is that they exacerbate the dryness. I have to wear those two lippies with balm underneath, but not with Dragon laque.
At $32 it's a huge splurge for me but you only need a tiny bit as it goes on very opaque and is highly pigmented. I'm a major tight wad and I'm content with the purchase! Though it has a doe footed applicator, I'd recommend using a lipstick brush anyway.

Hard to pick just one. A few I like:
Chanel's True Red
Revlon's Cherries in the Snow
MAC Russian Red
Este Lauder's Divine Red
Loreal used to make British Red Cost, but it may be discontinued now.
