Start using friends to give you feedback, pick up a book with photos of hand postioning, and I can send you some oils to get you started!

This thread is WAY old, but I do massage! I love doing it, and will always do it. BUT I am in school now, going back for nursing. Massage therapists generally don't get benefits, work on commission and count on tips to make ends meet. I do about 15 - 25 massages a week at the day spa I work at. Like I said - I will always have clients that are friends and family, it has TOTALLY changed my life (for the better of course) but it's hard for a single gal to make a living on it.

I remember once having a chat with my massage therapist who visits me twice a week. She said that it does take something like that of MACyogi's, 15 to 25 or even more massage a week. But I guess she earns good because she is associated with the hospital and her services are kinda a little bit more expensive.

A massage career can be emotionally and physically draining. What usually causes that is that there are underlying reasons and agendas for wanting to help others and massage therapists give up themselves to be able to help others. The thing is that becoming a massage therapist is more about learning to take care of yourself and get your needs for attention, nurturing and appreciation met outside of a massage practice. It is about becoming aware of yourself.
