I see 28 people online here. Is there no one who may respond??
(there are a TON of liquid liner posts in here actually, you should take a look at some)
honestly, pencil is easier for beginners and is better to get a soft natural smudgy look. but if u want to use liquid liner, i suggest outlining with the pencil first in whatever shape or design u want, and then use a liquid liner over top of it.
you really need a strong, steady hand with liquid. as you apply you should steady your elbow on a table and try to rest your pinkie on your cheek if you can
Practice, practice, practice! That is the best tip I can offer. Liquid liners can be messy, if you're not careful. Just take your time. If your hand is shaky, just lean on your elbow during application. Draw the line as close to your lashes as possible, so it will start off very thin and you can easily thicken the line if you wish.
For beginners, I think it is better to use the pencil. Liquid eyeliners can be very messy and for sure, you're gonna be wasting a lot of time. Just try to practice applying liquid eyeliners first..
I also think pencil liner is the best to start with. You gotta make sure its sharpened for more control and just do little dashes at first..and then fill in the gaps..
Like everyone else suggested, a pencil is good for a softer-smokey-smuged look. If you are looking to do a dramatic cat/winged eye, look for a liquid liner with a felt tip. Take some time to browse the cosmetics sections in the drug store, checking out the testers to see what the applicator tip is like. The felt tip is stiff, much like a Sharpie marker, so you have way more control over your line. Other than that, practice makes perfect
Oh yes, another tidbit - If practicing with a pencil, try spinning the tip on the back of your hand first. This heats and softens the kohl, decreasing the occurances of "skips" in your line from pulling on the lid as you line![]()
Have Fun!!
the liquid eyeliner that is my favorite is Urban Decay. its really good and stays on for a long time. they have it in all different colors and you can find it at any Sephora store for $18- $20
id say pencil is easier for beginners because if you make a mistake, you can make it smokey and smudgey and it will still look awesome![]()
I actually have the opposite problem. When I use a pencil, my eyes don't turn out as defined as when i use the liquid liner.
I used loreal intense linear eye liner. it is relatively cheap and had a felt tip pen so its quite easy to apply. I used the lancome artiliner which i absolutely adore, but thats a little bit more pricey. i would go for the loreal one and practise with ithope it helpss x
