Thread: What do YOU think of E.L.F Cosmetics?

  1. #1

Default What do YOU think of E.L.F Cosmetics?

For those of you who aren't familiar with E.L.F products, it's basically a line of cosmetics (standing for Eyes, Lips, Face) sold at Winner's, Target, maybe Walmart, and if anyone knows where else ELF is sold, please comment! I recently bought two E.L.F kits the other day at Winner's and I was surprised at how dirt cheap the kits were! I got a kit with two hypershines, two lip glosses, two lipliners, a sharpener and a lip duo for like 10 bucks! Mind you the quality isn't MAC, but I'd say it's better than your typical Revlon or L'oreal products. I also got an eye kit called Basic Browns that came with three eyeshadows (cream colour, medium and dark brown), a brown eyeliner, a sharpener, false eyelashes and a brown mascara! All of it together was like $13. Oh and it also came with a GREAT "ELF Professional Eyeshadow brush". The shadows were super pigmented and the lip glosses were nice. I will definitely be checking out their products more often in the future.

Any related comments, questions and opinions are welcome!

I bought eyeshadow from e.l.f. and I loved how pigmented the color was (even though the color didn't suit me). I ended up putting my sister on to it when I told her about the website. She bought a variety of eyeshadows and liked the mineral powder the best.

Personally, I like e.l.f. for it's affordability and the quality if pretty good for what you're paying. However, I would not suggest it for anyone who wants staight-up natural makeup.

I got my e.l.f. purchase from eyeslipsface.com and I loved it ! I especially love their studio line brushes especially the flat top powder brush and regular blender and eyeshadow brush for one freakin dollar!!!! what i've learned from makeup is to try itagain and try to give them another chance. Their nail polish is quite good too btw

if anyone wants a review of something just lmk i'd be glad

Mikajin-- I agree that the makeup isn't exactly natural looking and I know, the eyeshadow pigmentation is great.

Fallangel744- I'm glad that you've had positive experiences with ELF products! Do you have a youtube account? I'd love a review of their "Basic Browns" kit or the super glossy glosses or whatever they're called.

no sorry ieartmakeup123, i sadly dont have a youtube account but here are my reviews of the products

basic browns- The eyeshadow pigmentation is great, although hard to blend and the colors of them really go together. If you don't apply some sort of primer or base the shadow will most definitely crease and smudge right off. I find that sweet is very shimmery and maybe not so suitable for adults. The eyeliner that comes with the basic browns is really bad imo but other sets like the smokey or the expert eyes was okay. and last the brushes are pretty good for the price like it didnt fall apart and they're not too harsh but i dont think they can compare to the regular $1 e.l.f. brushes which are better to me

super glossy lip shines(the ones in the squeezable type tubes?)- I thought these glosses were pretty good for $1 since they smell nice to me and the tube contains a lot of it. My shade I got is in watermelon which is really suitable for my skin tone (asian light medium skin) and the texture was pretty nice. Since the watermelon shade doesnt have a lot of glitter or sparkle, it wasn't gritty at all for me. Its not overly shiny for me, but it is a bit shinier than other glosses. The gloss is just sticky enough to last long but not as sticky as MAC glosses. Some of the colors are pretty sheer and other ones opaque but thats your opinion

hoped that helped and a couple more things. The theraputic?(spelling) lip blams are really moisturizing and for some odd reason after I smooth them around it takes of all the dead skin on my lips so its perfect to use for before bed or before lipstick application which idk if that happens for other people. Also the studio line contouring brush is really bad to me.

Thanks, I've been meaning to try their polishes some time. I have to wait until Jan2011 to do a mani but my toes can look all kinds of sane to crazy. =)

no problem I tend to think that the polishes they carry are quite thick and creamy and not at all runny but those are the polishes i have

I have some products by ELF and I think that, although they are not bad, I would prefer to use my money in other brand. I have two eyebrown kit (one in powder and one in gel) and they are not the best I have met, ok, yes the price is not high... the only product I am really happy with is the concealer and highlighter two in one, it works really good! however, I still think they are not such a good stuff as some of their fan say, after all, their products are "designed in EEUU" and "made in CHINA"... it means something! Well, that is MY opinion...

I haven't purchased anything besides the eye shadow brushes (which I really like), but I think I'll look into it more and give more of their products a try.

i think that if you have sensitive skin, some of the products might not work for you but i have sensitive skin too and it worked fine. My friend...not so much. She said it broke her out so just beware

I've ordered from E.L.F like 4 times now! And i'm from the UK. I like most of their products that I've bought from them.. Okayy some of their products are a bit crappy.. but come on- £1.50! I love the eyeshadow brush, and the Brightening Eyeshadows have really good pigment to them, even though they aren't that well compacted as it goes everywhere when you dip in your brush lolol but still x

I've never tried E.L.F but I've heard very good things about them. Apparently the eyeshadows have really good pigmentation and for the price you pay I think there worth it if all the claims are true and at that price you can't go wrong. They have two ranges I think but everything in a particular E.L.F range is the same price. Might have to visit there site, might try ALOT of their products.

I recommend the elements in colors sage and dusk (I also bought moondust but personally it's not a great color for me) and the mineral shadows royal and confident. The elements are powdery but with a good base, those colors can make many eyes pop as can the minerals. I'm not crazy about the eye brighteners- they're inconsistent with ease of application and many of them look very light (at least on me).

    Elf = love!!!
I adore their products, especially the Studio and Mineral Lines. Their $3 brushes are amazing, and they also make a great eyeshadow primer (mineral line).

    Products I love:

    Mineral Line:
    eyeshadow primer
    eyeshadows
    lipsticks & glosses

    Studio Line:
    bronzers
    blush
    brushes
    brow kit

    Regular Line:
    super glossy lip shines
    liquid liner pens
    false eyelashes
elements (compacts with eyeshadows, blushes, and lip color)
    eye brightening eyeshadow quads

I mean, the price of some of these products is $1!! How can you go wrong?
