Default Difference between Lip Gloss and Lipstick?

Except for the color is there any other difference between Lip Gloss and Lipstick?
I like the color of Lip gloss a lot but some Lipsticks also look pretty cool.

lipglosses are more shiny and clear lipgloss can make lips look plumper, although lipstick defines lips more, and are usually the best option if you want your lips to be noticeable; although i apply both

    Thank you.
Do you mean you can apply both at the same time? How would you do that? Lipstick first and then the lip gloss on top of that?

Lip gloss is worn over lipstick, it gives lipstick a shine and helps it stay put. You can wear gloss on it's own too to give your lips a more natural shine.

I have always thought of lip gloss as "paler colored" lipstick, LOL. It is not so defined, more like adding shine / enhancing your natural color. Yes, it can be worn over regular lipstick, too.

I think lip gloss isn't opaque and is oilier than lipstick.

Of course, lip gloss is better than lipstick if you are trying to correct dryness, but isn't nearly as dramatic as lipstick.

i used them both, some lip gloss won't shine that long at least my lipstick still on it. Especially weather that is so hot, i find the gloss to be very helpful. My preference in lipstick is more on light. Guess dark colour gives you a mature look.

I usually like to use lip gloss over lipstick But some lipglosses are pigmented enough to use on their own.

Would you say that lip gloss generally does not last very long and needs to be reapplied often?

You can try applying a nude lip liner over your lips which will help lipstick and lipgloss last a bit longer

But I agree with kaylaris, generally gloss doesn't last as long as lipstick.

    No worries

oh, I just read over that post. I should have said any lip liner, doesn't necessarily have to be nude! I just usually use a nude colour

Lipstick is a heavier base colour. Generally the colours are rich and striking although there is now a great variety of colours, and ones like "Made-for-me Naturals" by L'Oreal are designed to intensify natural lip colour [known as "nudes"]. They are mostly matte although now there are shimmers, metallics, and even glittering lipsticks. Many girls associate lipstick with older women, however as a 17-year-old erring on the side of the alternative scene, I do find my favourite lip colour is a striking scarlet lipstick as they are non-drying, more moisture-intense and the colour lasts longer, however they should be used in conjunction with a lip pencil as bold lip colours can "bleed out" which looks very messy!

Lipglosses are a relatively new concept and are the easier and more natural alternative to lipgloss. Many girls prefer lipglosses are their "day wear." Most lipglosses are "tints" of pinks, reds and mauves although they're gaining popularity and so the colour choice is rapidly growing. Lipglosses are generally shiny, "plasticy" shimmery, pearlescent or glittery and a GREAT choice for girls whose pouts aren't as big as they'd like as natural, pastel and pale lip colours with a shimmer or pearly base really do make your lips pop! They're also really easy to reapply which makes them handy for the handbag although many of them do transfer quickly!

If you're looking for a "night out" look combine a striking lipstick as your base colour then a clear, high-shine or glitter gloss sweep over the lipstick base to REALLY make your lips stand out!

    Hope this helps

Lip gloss primarily gives lips a shiny quality and some times has subtle color or can be clear while lipstick contains pigments, oils and waxes to add color to your lips.

you can hear it on the names what the different is really, lip GLOSS, just to basically make your lips glow and shine, while lip STICK is more to stay on and define your lips. Then there is different textures and see-trought on lipstick, and different matt and semi-matt ones, but that hasent got to do with you question
