Thread: Need help with eyeshadow.

  1. #1

    Default Need help with eyeshadow.

I have no clue what type of eyes I have. This makes it hard for me to understand what I need to do when applying my eyeshadow. I've read tons of things describing eyes and I just can't figure it out. Here is a picture of me.

I know I have small hooded eyes. Are they deep set? And what is it called when the crease is small like that? Sometimes it's almost as if you can't tell I have a crease. Help me figure out what kind of eyes I have please, and any makeup tips for the type of eyes would be appreciated

Also I love dramatic looks. If anyone could give me any advice on a dramatic look I could pull off without making my eyes look really small that would be great. Here is a picture of what I mean.

It seems bright colors is the only way I can pull it off, but I would really love to be able to wear dark colors without making my eyes look small.

    Thanks!!!

I would say you have an almond shape with a slight hood, meaning your crease is kind of low, but you can tell you do have double lids, and not a typical hooded monolid (like many Asians have). Honestly, you have a great eye shape and eye color to pull off many eye looks, bright colors, dramatic eyes, etc.

Just remember these tips: try not to use very dark eyeshadow on your main eyelid, it can make your eyes seem smaller and closed up. It's better to use a lighter color on the lid, while smoking out darker shadows in the outer V and buffed/layered in the crease for the illusion of a bigger crease. Don't completely rim your eyes in dark eyeliner, keep the inner corner of your eye light, and/or shimmery if you like that. If you line your bottom lashline, line the outer 2/3rds and then smudge the liner down so it's more smoky and not harsh. Like sometimes I will messily line the lower lashline with black eyeliner, then use a small smudger brush to smudge bronze or dark eyeshadow into the black and it has a nice smoky effect. Mascara on top and bottom, or falsies, always help open up the eye too.

Hope that helped! These are just things I keep in mind since I have a similar almond eye shape. I think that makeup is about expressing yourself and doing what you like that makes you feel pretty, so you don't have to take beauty rules too seriously. You should just have fun experimenting, in any case.

if you want to use dark colours, use them on the outer half of the lid, and highlight the inner corner with a light colour to make eyes look larger. also, lining the inner rim of your eyes with white eyeliner makes your eyes alot bigger

^^^ I agree with that, or you could even use a tri-colour eyesahdow or three seperate matching colours you like and use the lighter shade or even white in the inner corner of your eyes and then get increasingly darker as you blend outwards
