hi all!
I need to know how to intensify the color of my eye shadows? do you have any tricks?
definitely use an eyeshadow primer underneath your shadows. but to help really intensify, i would use some water or mixing medium to foil the eyeshadow, or spread a cream eyeliner or cream base all over the lid that's in a similar shade underneath the eyeshadow. or if you would like to pop it in a dramatic way, use a dark/black base cuz it'll be a great background to show through under the shadow. or if you want to make it really bright, use a white base.
Go get a
1.Primer: Splurge for the expensive ones such as Too Face or Urban Decay, or stop by your local drugstore and pick up one. I used a drugstore primer myself
2. Get a cream shadow pallet- It doesn't have to have a ton of colors. Like 4 will do you. i have one form Revlon that has white, navy blue, light blue, and green and i love it to death. It gives my shadows that extra push over the edge.
3. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk- Every one and her mother MUST have this. I got mine at a swapmeet for $3. If you don't have a ghetto Mexican swapmeet near you, invest in one, it won't be terribly pricey. And if it is, buy it anywasy. It amps up ANY COLOR
I use all three of these on my blog, check it out http://kattatonic.blogspot.com/
The eyeshadow primer or a good base will definitely make the eyeshadow pop, I love my Urban Decay primer potion, I haven't tried Too faced shadow insurance but I heard it's really good as wellBut what I do to intensify the color of my eyeshadow if not use a mixing medium, I spray a bit of m.a.c's Fix+ on my brush and pad it onto the shadow

*Hey! The thing is, I didn't want to spend the money on buying an eye primer, like everyone else raves about. If YOU want to buy it, go right ahead I strongly encourage you. But if you want to save money or a trip or whatever, you can do what I did.... make your own Eyeshadow Primer.
Heres what I did: I took an old makeup container that i didn't use and rinsed it out. If you have a lotion (preferrably white, and unscented.) squeeze about 2-4 pumps of that into the container. If you have a liquid cover up or foundation, use that, but you could do like me, for a thicker primer (because I have a lot of skin oils, which made my eyeshadow wear off) you can use a powder foundation. Mix them together until YOU like the amount and the thickness. Make sure they are equally blended because otherwise it will climp or be too thick and mess up your makeup. This works great for me. I know I'm not you but give it a try! If it works for you, you'll have saved some money. Hope this helps!
also, if you don't NEED an eye primer, and your eyeshadow stays onf fine and you just want a more vibrant color, just wet your eyeshadow brush so it damp (not soaked) and then apply your eyeshadow.![]()
cream eye shadow or if your eye shadow is water safe-then add water! These can help to pop your color
here is how I intensify my eyeshadows
I usually use a similar base like NYX Jumbo Pencils but be careful and blot out extra otherwise you might crease. Also if its a color that can be foiled (used wet) then I dampen a brush, wipe off extra water on a tissue and use it wet. For someone lazy like me, I started using Epoxy stuff my Fyrinnae thats a clear gel i put on my lids then apply the shadow over and it foils itself, pretty amazing stuffGood Luck
1. Eyeshadow Primer
2. NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils
3. MAC Fix +
I use an eye cream stick as a base, or concealer. Vaseline works too, but I can't use it because I seem to have an allergic reaction to it. Or just an eyeshadow crayon, or cream base eyeshadow first![]()
I agree with all of these; I either use my eye shadows wet (with simple water or eye drops), over concealer, over an eye shadow primer or with NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils (Milk works for virtually anything).
Something that does not work very well though, in my experience, is foundation. The eye shadow doesn't stick that well so it's not as intense. And I thought vaseline was bad for your eyes? I can't remember where I've read this, but it seems that it could lead to vision problems (?) The only time I tried putting vaseline on my eyes, I had blurry vision after. Maybe it's something I did wrong?
I have a vaseline stick that removes makeup around the eye area. I would only put a really small amount on with a cotton bud.
By applying eyeshadow in different colours and textures, you can intensify or soften your regard, create a certain mood, and even improve your eye shape, depending on the look you want to achieve.
To obtain the best results, you not only need to choose the right eye shadow but also apply it in the most flattering way that will enhance your eyes.
I use eye drops or contact solution depending on which I have available at the time. Just add a drop to your brush or spongy applicator then dip to eye shadow. It has made even the thinnest, cheapest eyeshadow, look like a million bucks.
Want Avon or Mark. Makeup check out:

Like everyone else here, definately eye shadow primer and M.A.C.'s matte loose pigment powders.
