You get different effects from using different products to apply your foundation. As a makeup artist everyone uses something different to get the desired effect. I love using a stipple brush to apply foundation and add more coverage with a sponge. xx
I prefer brush on applying my press powder/foundation. I initially use sponge because it always comes with the press powder when you buy one. But somehow the application is not even. I have some areas on my face that have more powder than the others. When brush became a fad on mineral powder, I was hooked with e.l.f. Kabuki brush. It made my powder application better and looks more natural on the face and neck. Unfortunately, their kabuki brush was already phased out.
I use both. I like to stipple my foundation on, because it looks really natural. After i like to blend it with a wet sponge. It never looks cakey, so taking the extra time to do both steps is definitely worth it. (:
I usually use sponges on everyone, but I do like stippling brushes. Not a lover of conventional foundation brushes though, don't know why, just a personal preference of style and technique I guess![]()
I prefer using a brush than a sponge because it's easier to work with and has an airbrushed effect if you use a stipple brush. I have used sponge before but not as often anymore. With a brush you have full control of the application as the product glides on smoothly using a brush. I agree with blending a foundation with a damp sponge to take out the excess product for a more even application.
I like using foundation brushes over sponges. I find I get more control of how much or how little I want to apply. I've never tried using a stippling brush as a foundation brush, so that sounds very interesting to me, however, I've used it as finishing brush when using a mineralized powder and it works great in that regard.
I think the smooth brush will be good to apply the mineral foundation to the face with the little quantity.
