Yes. Too much cleansing causes dry skin. That said, the skin will produce too much oil that will eventually clog the pores. You must use a cleanser that will remove the excess oil on the skin. When I had acne poblem, on my jawline area, I used organic tomato soap and Omorovicza Cleansing Milk.
I use Velocity, it wipes off dirt and grime, and the moisturizer wipes off any excess oils on the skin. I don't reccomend Clean and Clear Pore Cleansor, It makes your face flaky, so I don't use it.
Overwashing might be able to cause it. Here are other ways you can avoid it.
Clean face
keep hair off your face
eat good diet
Drink plenty of water
exercise
use natural cosmetics as much as possible
don't irritate the pimple by popping or squeezing
always use clean glasses
keep face away from sun and pollution
Overwashing can def cause skin probs. So can using too strong products. I used to use super strong stuff many years ago, until an esthetician pointed out that I have sensitive skin. Now I only use facial wipes (exfoliating) and dial soap (once every two days or so, because it can be overdrying-i use it for the antibacterial qualities). I've recommended this regimen to several clients and they've cleared up, sooooo.
Well, people use those reading glasses everyday and a lot of times in a day. Sometimes they just place it anywhere like the top of the table where they eat at, in their glove compartments, above their hair etc. If those glasses get dirty, chances of you having dirt on your face is high too as those glasses touches your skin.
Good thing I clean mine often(Yeah! I'm a four eye!! lol)
I tend to always squeeze my pimples its like a habit then i get those awful dark spots it leaves anyone know how to get rid of them?
http://www.decleor.com/gamme-produit.php?id=6 I haven't tested any of these - but I have heard good results from other. It's a bit expensive - but good products.
I use the Clinique anti-blemish range. The foaming facial wash is lovely, but doesn't seem to do much (I have opted for a cheaper wash now) but the moisturiser and the clarifying lotion work really well (for me). It is expensive (£16 each, I think) but I think it is worth it... my skin was my greatest insecurity for years (I suffered from acne for a while) and now I don't wear make-up on my skin... ever and am always complimented. Good luck!
To avoid further clogging of your pores, all cosmetics, lotions and sunscreens should be oil-free. To avoid dry skin, use an oil-free lotion. To avoid sunburn use oil-free products such as Neutrogena or Coppertone Oil-free Sunscreen. And remember to beware of hair products and gels, as they tend to be very oily.
Look for product labels that read "noncomedogenic", meaning they won't clog pores.
Tips to treat acne:
Reduce stress with regular exercise,
Reduce or limit refined carbohydrates and sugar intake,
Avoid caffeine and other stimulants,
Limit dairy products and red meat...
I had that problem a few years ago. I used cleansers that were way too strong for my skin type. The cleansers made me break out even more and I used strong acne lotions on my face, it made it even worse. In the end I started to use cleansers for sensitive skin and I put sport treatment on my problem areas. After a few weeks my face cleared up.
I agree with Januariuz, aside from dirt and germs our diet and lifestyle would also trigger acne breakouts.
well i have bad acne too. to get rid of it like bit more fast than usually you go to the doctor and tell them about your acne (don't worry about showing them your acne they seen worst) and they write a prescription for you for "Clindoxyl Gel" it works really well you wash your face and apply it then the next day it shrinks down really fast. (P.S don't eat alot of junk food it makes alot of pimples on your face and you will only wonder how to get rid of acne) and using a soap bar makes it really worst.
Ok well a couple of things,
1. You should not just be washing your face with soap. There is a reason why they make face washes. The science behind it is, most washes and soaps are not pH balanced. Our skin has a thing called an "acid mantle." Which is around a pH of 4.5.
When you wash with a high alkaline soap, you raise your skins pH that results in dryness. and can evn result in lizard skin.
this happens because the high pH sends the enzmyes in our skin that are responsible for natural exfoliation into hyperdrive.
I would strongly suggest you go to the drug store and buy a cheap wash. IF you can i would even higher recommend you buy a nicer face wash that is pH balanced like Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel.
But since you have acne, you are best off getting an acne wash. They make an acne wash too, but acne washes can not be perfectly balanced for our skin, or else they would not be able to kill the bacteria.
2. Never use toothpaste as a spot treatment. The fluoride in toothpaste is known to burn the skin. Instead invest in a nice spot treatment for your breakouts.
3. If you wear a helmet, wipe down the straps and pads in the helmet with an alcohol pad. If you wear a backpack, get an acne face wipe, and wipe down your back after your bike. The increase sweat causes an increase of bacteria.
An acne face wipe can also help keep your face free of breakouts, or at least be used to spruce up before and after work
Use aloe vera the most effective and the best way to reduce the acne and pimples. All the medicines and all the doctors also prefer for use it in one or the other form and will be helpful to you too.
Thanks a lot.

The issue here isn’t over washing your face. The issue is really balance. It is actually quite easy to over wash your face so it is important to find the right cleanser for your skin type.
lifestyle can also be one of the things you need to change to avoid acne. Here are some more essential oils that people can consider for their acne:
Tea Tree Oil
Bergamot Oil
Clove Oil
Lavender Oil
Rosewood Oil
How do they work?
They have anti-bacterial properties that help get rid of acne-spreading germs.
They calm irritation and redness caused by acne.
They help balance your skin's oil production, reducing excess oiliness.
They speed your skin's healing both during and after an outbreak.
