There are some home remedies that you can do to lighten your hair:
Use Lemon Juice - You have to be careful with this though as it can make your hair dry and cause some graying. It has to be properly diluted or mixed in water. The usual ratio is a gallon of water to a tablespoon of lemon juice. You wash your hair everyday until it reaches your desired change.
Some people mixes it with other stuff like olive oil, chamomile tea, hair conditioner.

If you dyed your hair to black it's gonna take some processing, first of all, how long ago did you dye it? you can only lighten your hair color with bleach. Black is the hardest color to remove and you need bleach since color cannot lift color. You can try an at home color corrector or sometimes called color remover which will remove the majority of your color as it did with me. Keep in mind I hadnt dyed my hair in a year but the last time I had dyed it I dyed it black. The color corrector will remove the color and basically lighten your hair, it's less harsh than bleach, though still a bit damaging so i'd prep my hair a few days before with deep conditioners as well as after the process. Also you need to know where the roots are because you will only apply the corrector to the dyed part of your hair since the roots wont need color to be removed. I'm not sure what color you want to go but I would say try a semi permanent color since permanent color will cause you to do the same thing in the future and will damage more. Hope this bit of info helped

You need to do some clarifying washes first to see how much of the dye can be stripped away. From there you need to start deep conditioning on a every other day basis until you get to the hair dresser. There are just too many things that can go wrong lifting from black ( I presume Jet Black ) to lighter, orange is always the color that crops up from do it yourselfers.
