Unhappy Best eyeliner for contact wearers? Worn on waterline. Help Me!

Finding a good eyeliner that stays on my waterline and doesn't flake into my eyes/onto my contacts is a constant battle for me. Usually, if I find one that stays on, within no time at all it's flaking into the bottom of my eye and/or sticking onto my contacts! When I take my contacts off, there will be tiny little spots of eyeliner flakes on it and these spots are extremely hard to get off; sometimes I can't get them off either.

I've tried many eyeliners...such as Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner, Stila waterproof liquid and stick eyeliner, Almay eyeliner, Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner, and right now, i've been using Smashbox jet set gel eyeliner. The Almay, Maybelline, and Stila liquid would mostly just smudge down onto my lower lash line and just smudge after a while; The Stila stick, UD 24/7 and Smashbox are great, they will stay; however, usually, they will flake onto my contacts, as I said or some pieces of it will flake into my eye(s) and make them water; once that happens, most of the eyeliner starts running/smudging into my eye and then my eye is bright red/irritated (but that doesn't happen all the time, just usually, the flaking/smudging into eye and sticking to contacts). The Stila stick was the worst of them all; coated my contacts so that I couldn't really see.

    Any advice?

Keep in mind, I prefer wearing my eyeliner on my waterline and I wear a dark smoky eye often; If eyeliner even slightly gets into my eyes, they often water really fast. I've gone through so many products and researched online and still this happens. Yeah, it's a problem. . Please, help!!

Lancome's waterproof retractable eyeliner stays on really well. I use it when i swim, and it never smudges. It just eventually fades away. Hope this helped (:

Hey, you said you've used liquid or gel liners on the water line? NEVER use these inside the eye, they're for the top lid and around the outer eye only.
My friend has contact lenses and she says that Barry M's kohl liner is amazing for staying on. Hope this helps. =]

I'm a contact wearer, but my eyes are less sensitive than yours. I would recommend the Prestige Total Intensity eyeliner. I did a wear test recently, and this was the result (after lots of rubbing and sleeping in it!)

You can see that the prestige was the most long lasting by far! I have more pictures and explanation here. I hope you can find something that works for you!

    1) Never use a liquid or gel eyeliner in your waterline. There's your first issue right there.

All those other products you listed work, it's your technique that's incorrect.

    1) You need to dry your waterline. Pull your waterline away from your eyeball, then with a Q-Tip or tissue, gently pat your waterline dry.

    2) Take your pencil liner!!! (Make sure it is clean and sharpened before-hand.) A good quality pencil sharpener will create either a small flat or beveled/tapered area of the liner tip. If it is pointed, you have a cheap sharpener and need to get a good one. If you see that it is pointed, just gently press it into a tissue that is placed flat on a hard surface to flatten out the tip.

    3) OK, now take the pencil liner of your choice that you already have, and with the *flat tapered side, which is for eyes btw, (the pointed side is for lips... Just sayin') and while your waterline is away from your eyeball, you line it, however, DO NOT line near the tear duct! Leave at least a 3mm space. Also leave a small 2mm space at the outer corner. If you line into the tear duct, it will flush away your liner everytime and the flushing will smear the liner all over your lenses as you blink.

Remember, Make-up is an illusion! With the rest of your finished smokey eye look, no one will see those little 2 and 3mm gaps. Also, limit your mascara coats to no more than 2-3, otherwise it will flake.

This technique should last for about 6 hours before a touch up is required.

I know that people are stuck in their ways on their make-up apps and girls love to wear 8 coats of mascara and super thick lip gloss etc. To each their own, there is no right or wrong in make-up, just interpretation.

    * What I mean here is what a good sharpener creates on liners.
