sigma or e.l.f have great sets of inexpensive brushes! theyre fab. ps- i have a blog and youtube channel www.ashduf.tumblr.com where i post about everything that is fashion and beauty (makeup/nails/hair/skin) products. twitter & instagram all linked, both are @ashleydufresne and i also take suggestions for tutorial vids![]()
Mary Kay set has no adhesives, and made of natural hair so its easy to wash over and over! Only 48 bucks with a big cute hanging case to keep all your small cosmetics! www.marykay.com/estelllegirl plus the gift with purchase would come with it and right now I just got 6 free lipglosses!!!
I love the mac brushes, but they are super expensive, lucky I get a discount kuz I work there otherwise I'd reconsider getting them.
Shu Uemura is quite expensive and the quality is luxury.
Kryolan has the most extensive fine lined/tipped precision brush range and selection on the market, along with their other brushes, they have the largest selection of make-up brushes in the world. Their quality is very excellent and the price is expensive.
Ben Nye has a good standard line of brushes, great for students, the quality is good and the price is medium to expensive.
Japonesque has a very small range of brushes, the quality is good and price is expensive.
M.A.C. is fairly common everywhere and they have a good selection of precision brushes, as does Make Up For Ever. Price is expensive, yet it's worth the quality.
Laura Mercier, Smashbox, NARS brushes are medium to good quality with a high price point.
Quo is medium priced ranged and their brushes are good quality.
Sigma brushes are M.A.C. clones with a very good price point for the budget conscious.
Lise Watier is medium priced ranged and are of medium quality.
e.l.f. brushes are low end with a low price point.
MAC all the way if you have the budget, Royal and Langnickle are fabulous and fit into most peoples budgets (especially if you get Pro membership), Lise Watier brushes are lovely and can be found in some drugstores like Shoppers Drug Mart, and everyone seems to rave about the Sigma brushes although I haven't bought any as yet.
I also buy quality paint brushes to use as eyeliner brushes and lip brushes. I just couldn't find lip brushes the size and shape that I wanted and was walking around DeSerres one day and though "aha!", lol![]()
I absolutely LOVE crown brush. Their brushes are amazing quality and no too harsh on your wallet which is always nice :]

My first set were from Crown Brush. They're a good starting point if you're on a budget but I've found the brushes are hit and miss with regards to quality, softness, etc.
I still use a few of the better ones in my kit but most of them have stayed in their brush roll since I started buying from other brands.
Yeah, that's my experience with them as well. I've only heard of them at IMATS several years ago, so they weren't my first set when I purchased a few just to check them out. But like Kirsty has said, this brand is a good starting point.
Hey Everyone!!!
I would really appreciate everyone's participation on this survey that I am running. It's a new idea that I have, and want to get developed as soon as possible, but first need to do some Market Research!!. I would be really grateful if you could help, it shouldn't take too long.
