Use a eye primer before hand, I have used MAC and the cheap drugstore brands, and have not found anything as Awesome as Mary Kay Eye Primer, ti glides on like a cream/lotion, so it doesnt cake and its smooth! You can also try adding concealer before hand if you dont want to buy a eye primer, which can help shadow stay on longer! Hope it helps!
thank you very helpful![]()
You can also try Eyeshadow Primer Potion from Urban Decay
country4x4girl said it right, use an eyeshadow base or a bit of concealer first. It will prevent fading and creasing. My favourite is the MAC Painterly paintpot and I also really like the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. A lot of people use and rave about the Urban Decay Primer Potion and I've also tried the Elizabeth Arden Eye-Fix Primer.
I agree the Urban Decay primer is AWESOME! I use the champaign and I can use it as just a eyeshadow or under eye make-up. It is crazy especially when you use a liquid liner. Plus the price is well worth it. (It was under $25) Enjoy!!!!
I've heard that Too Faced Shadow Insurance is great (never used it), but I've heard people say that Urban Decay Primer Potion is even better for people with oily lids. I personally have oily lids and use UDPP, and I love it!I also like using jumbo crayons/pencils like the L'Oreal HiP Cream Crayons and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils.
I know some people complain the NYX JEP are too creamy and crease on them, but if you just swipe a LITTLE on your lid or finger and use your finger to spread it thinly over your lid, it's less likely to crease. The white JEP called Milk is the best for really making your brights stand out, it's my favorite when I use bright yellow or lime shadows. They have 25 different colors though, so like, if you get a blue JEP and use a blue eyeshadow it will really stand out as well.
thanks everyone very helpfulsomeone said to put mac shadstick you think that would work well?
Shadesticks can defo be used as a base. I personally never really liked them all that much and MAC was going to fade them out of the program. For me they were a bit too hard to handle, pulling my eyelid too much and it would crease on me. But MAC just released quite a few new ones in the SugarSweet collection, have been hearing a lot of good reviews on them saying the consistency has changed and it's easier to work with now. You do have to keep in mind that these new ones are all quite shimmery.
I've heard wonderful things about Urban Decay Primer Potion.
But just a simple thing you can do to help application:
Take a tissue and smooth it over your eyelid to remove any excess oil that may cause creasing.
Also, it could just be a bad eye shadow. Try mineral eye shadows on Etsy.com. They stay on longer for me!
Hi, The Mary Kay Eye Primer is the best I have tried, it keeps my eye shadow on all day.
Smashbox just came out with an amazing eye primer...not only does it keep your shadows bright, keep them from creasing, but it has anti-aging benefits as well! I've found that it allows shadows to blend even better than UDPP...
It is my new go to primer.
Apply a couple of coats of oil free powder foundation, using a fine brush, to your eyelids
it absorbs the oil and doesnt crease your shadow, or as much lol.
what everyone else has said is enough but mousse shadows also tend to stay longer than powder![]()
Have you tried taking out any natural oils (using a tissue or sponge) before applying the shadow base (I use scandalous eyeshadow base, but you can use two faced or urban decay primer potion.) Then apply a base like from the Mac paint pot or shade sticks (they are a little thicker in consistency than a cream shadow or some shade pencils.)
Then apply you highlighting color, I use Vanilla eyeshadow from Mac cosmetics.
I hope I'm making sense :]
My all time favorite is using MAC select cover up. You can use it as your eyeshadow base as well as a cover up on desired areas on the face. It will not crease at all.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion works really well but if you dont have that on hand chapstick works just as well.
I work at Sephora and I can tell you we all love Urban Decay Primer Potion and it is true that it works well for oily lids. Too Faced Shadow Insurance is also really nice. Smashbox has come out with a new eyelid primer as well. All of these are less than $20
Does anyone know if they are still doing a special on the Urban Decay Primer Potions at Ulta? A few months ago I got 2 UDPP's for $26 there and I thought it was such a great deal. It'd be great if they were still doing that but I think they are a dollar more than they used to be now and they probably don't want to do a good deal like that anymore lol...
