Hey guys!
So I'm a huge fan of DIYs. Below is one of my favorites. I also would like for you to reply with your own DIYs. I'm interested to see what else you guys have learned.
So here's mine:
I just recently found out about mixing medium and I found a recipe online to making your own and it is super cheap and super easy. Mixing medium is something you dip your brushes in to apply eyeshadow with. It makes the colors super vibrant and helps them stay applied to your eyelids (less smudging/creasing) and it helps to blend/move the make-up better when applying. I wish I had color swatches to show you. The difference is amazing. It's a miracle for drug store make-up, for sure.
So all you need for this is:
-glycerine (Found in the pharmacy section at your grocery store, next to band-aids and the brown bottles of hydrogen peroxide, it usually costs anywhere from $2-$3, used as a skin protectant)
-water (I used bottled water to avoid the additives usually found in tap water. I don't really know if there's a difference though. I'm sure tap water is fine.)
-measuring spoons (Or, whatever. Just something for measuring. I used the lid to my bottled water.)
-a jar/bottle/container (Just for storing your mixing medium in. I found some in the aisle with the travel-sized bottles of toothpaste and shampoo.)
This is all you have to do:
For whatever measurement of glycerine you use, you put 3x that amount in water. So your mixture will be 1/4 glycerine and 3/4 water.
I just used one bottle cap of glycerine and 3 bottle caps of water. You can do the same with teaspoons or tablespoons. Then all you do is close the container and shake it up real good. Done!
Application:
I would suggest for loose powders/pigments, you dip the brush in the mixing medium (DAMP, not soaked.) and then dip the brush in the powder, then apply. For pressed powders/pigments, I would get powder on your brush first, then dip in the medium. This is just to avoid ruining your pressed powders. You will see a huge difference. I'll try to take some pictures of swatches here soon.
Lastly,
POST YOUR OWN DIYs!
I want to see what kind of at-home instructions/recipes you guys have for any beauty products/techniques.
Thanks!
