    Default Red Acne

I have really bad acne. It is mostly red and can get really dry and flaky. I had oily skin until I started using Proactiv (which I stopped using). I have had acne for about 8 years now--sometimes it does clear up, but it never stays that way.
Are there any natural ways of getting rid of my acne? I live and work in a stressful environment, and I believe that might also be part of the problem.

your skin might be extremely sensitive, which could be why proactiv is no good
the only things i use for my face is water and moisturizer, seriously.
i thought it was stupid until a friend told me her dermatologist recommended the same thing for her - water!
the water will be just enough to remove excess oil and spread it around to make an even amount (because you do need SOME oil to keep your skin from drying out) and using moisturizer after you blot dry your face will help it from drying out over the course of the day :]
try to use one with spf in it too, it helps alot!

My skin gets the same way, like it'll get really bad, then get better, then next thing I know, it's bad again. I've been doing this skincare routine and it really works for me. I do this morning and night. I wash my face using Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Acne Wash (It comes in a container that looks like a handwash pump.) After that, I then use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for sensitive skin. It took about a week, but my acne has really improved, and my skin hasn't been too dry or too oily, just right.

    Hi Cooper
You have to look at several issue's that are bothering your skin right now. The redness and breakouts. Which one is the most extreme right now?
As a Esthetician I have to decide based on my clients lifestyle which area of concern is before I treat that condition.
Acne is caused by 4 factors overactive oil glands, cell accumulation , bacteria, immflamation. When you start to eliminate 1 or more of these conditions in which breakouts thrive. The process can stop.
I have been in this field for over 14 years and have found Dermalogica to be the best for acne. Look this up on the web and you will be directed to the nearest salon to your home. Price wise you are looking at 30 - 40 for the cleanser but it works. I would also recommend facials at the same spa you buy this product.
When you start this process of clearing the breakouts it will always get worse before it gets better. Drug store products are good but you need to work with a skin therapist who can help you with every step of the way.
    Hope this helps

Hey Cooper! Because of hormonal change and stress, I have terrible pimples on my face. I also use Proactive and my skin is extremely dry as a result. As far as diet, try to drink more water because it helps to clean the toxic waste out of your body. For skin care, there are no fast methods to get rid of acne because it might be hereditary. I find Ceptahil products help soothe and soften my skin. I also find Neutrogena cucumber acne face wash helpful. WHat you can do is switching back and forth between those two products so you can treat your acne, while at the same time, making sure that your skin does not dry out.

Well, I have that problem also. I use Beauticontrol and that has help it a lot. I started with the acne kit, and after that since my face started to dry up, I combined it with normal cleansers and have these little pads in my purse, so everytime I feel my face oily I clean it. I know that it's a little stressedful, but after a while it gets better. Remember when you start using a product the first weeks it seems that it doesnt work, because you start to break out even more, but whats really happening its that your face is starting to clean up, and all that excess oil is coming out. And before going to bed I was my face with warmth water and no products, I only use it during the day.

If your looking for something natural i would go to a Natropath- they can sort out what foods you should and shouldnt be using but i think evening rose prime or rosehip oil was one of the main ones they use for acne. Give it a shot

I also agree that water is the best thing for your skin ,but you could also try some simple cleansers by the brand " simple" they use no harsh chemicals so it is all natural x it is not purfumed either

Neostrats Gel Clenser. And to clear up spots real fast get tea tree oil and put it on a q-tip. then apply just to a zit, not your whole face, because what it does is dry out the zit.
