    Exclamation painted nails.

I love to keep my nails all different colours, but every time i paint my nails, they chip!
is this because im using a bad brand of nail varnish?

do any of you have tips on how to stop the colour from chipping?

    Use a base coat.
Apply just one coating of it and carry on with your colored nail polish.
    I use OPI's base coat =)

use a clear polish over it, also it might be the brand your useing. Yes there all going to chip a little but some our better about not chipping then others.

    hey
well some brands tend to chip more than others, usually cheaper ones. i find Barry M's nail paint is so good, lasts ages and has really nice colours. but yeah, like they said, use a base AND a top coat and it should help it abit.. x

    Hi!
Sometimes before you paint your nails you may have a layer of grease on the nail plate which can cause the nail enamel to lift and then flake or chip away.
Use your nail polish remover to clean the nail plate thoroughly before you apply your base coat and this should help alot!
And obviously as the other girls have said you must use a good product, OPI, Barry M and Rimmel i find are all very good!
    Hope this helps!

I agree with CPY, before you apply your base coat, make sure that there's no grease on your fingernail by using a nail polisher remover pad, or just some polish remover on a q-tip.
Then, just apply a base coat, your nail color, then a top coat of clear polish.
And don't do what I do, and bite your nails. That doesn't help with the color chipping either. Haha.

    xo.

i can recommend the mavala nail care-set. Hand moisturiser(Spelled??) base coat, top coat, nail strengthener, some kind of polish to cover yellow/white spots, and more..! Simply, everything!!!

I use a base coat always, OPI nail strengthner. And as a top coat, a lot of people I know swear by I believe it's called Seche Vite. I know you can buy it at Sallys. Also, another good top coat is from Essie called "No Chips Ahead." I've been doing some research cause I work a lot with my hands and my nail polish never stays =[
